PL HELPThanks. Hi,I will be glad to help you with the issue you have with the external hard drive. Some external storage devices work poorly or not at all when connected to a hub; try connecting the drive directly to a port on the computer. Also check if it’s detected in “Disk Management”.Here you can verify if the partition and format are correct for the Operating System.Check the Drive’s status in Device manager. This will verify if the external drive has a drive letter designation.Check Partition and Format.1.

Click Start, right click oncomputer and select manage.4. Now, click Disk Management.5.
Check whether drive letter for the device is present.6. Check the lower window to find whether the device is detected (such as Disk 1, Disk 2, etc).7. If the device is detected with a drive letter, verify that no other device is using that drive letter. If it is,change it to unused drive letter.Refer:Change, add, or remove a drive letter( Also applies to Windows 10)Please reply with the results, we are happy to help you further.Thank you. I ran disk utility and looked for errors on a NTFS drive that was working fine but had been ejected abruptly after the computer was forced to shut down. After that a bunch of errors just appeared in red and the disk became 'empty'. The only folder available is named 'found.000' and cannot be opened.I have been able to recover data from the disk with Data Rescue but the folder structure is not there.
I have a bunch of folders like MP3 1, MP3 2, Documents etc.
